In life, when one finds a good mentor, it also helps to be a good student. Jody Rhyne’s career path in financial services starts with the introduction of a good student to a good mentor. Upon graduating from UNC Chapel Hill, Jody was referred to a financial services industry veteran in Charlotte, which resulted in a lifelong friendship and coaching relationship that has shaped his career since 1992.

Jody took to heart much of the counsel he received. “Those early years were a time of self-discovery, where I established values – largely drawn from my faith – that shape the way I handle myself as a professional, and how we treat our clients to this day,” says Jody. “One of the first things I learned was: ‘if your compensation for any client relationship were to be zero, would you still give them the same advice?’ Jody recalls. “The answer has to be yes,” he adds.

After building proficiency in the business, Jody opened and established Rhyne Financial in his hometown of Lincolnton. Jody’s eyes light up when he talks about his work. “I don’t think you have to be a pastor to have a calling,” he explains. “This is how I am making a difference in people’s lives, by building genuine relationships and passionately helping my clients achieve their financial goals.” Over the years, Jody has kept up with the industry by investing in continuing education. In addition to earning the Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU), and Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) designations, he is also a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ Professional (CFP®).

Outside of work, Jody has made a difference in the lives of the youth from the athletic teams he coached or from the classroom where he serves as a mentor. As a past leader in the Lincolnton Optimist Club, Jody admits to a great love of sports, but also a sincere desire to be a positive role model to others. Jody is very involved in his community and his church. He also serves in various leadership roles including the Rotary Club of Lincolnton and the Lincoln County Family YMCA. He also serves on the Advisory Board for Atrium Health Lincoln.

“If we do right by our clients, this business rewards me by allowing me to offer the best of myself to what’s most important to me: my family, my children, my community and my work,” says Jody.

Jody and his wife, Ann, have three children and reside in Lincolnton, North Carolina.
